10 Ways To Keep Your Workouts on Track

It is one thing to start a new workout program an another entirely to keep those workouts on track and part of your daily life so that you change your habits.

Here are my Top 10 Ways to Keep Your Workouts on Track!

1.  Pick a time for your workout each day and stick to it.

2.  Get a workout buddy – studies show that when you have an accountability partner you are much more likely to succeed.

3.  Keep your workouts interesting.  By choosing a workout program like Turbo Fire, P90X, Insanity or any of the other Beachbody programs you will never be bored!

4.  Keep a food journal.  Most of us don’t really remember every little thing we eat during the day.  The calories add up quick.  Keeping a food journal will help you make sure your caloric intake will be the right amount.

5.  Set small goals for yourself.  Instead of saying “I want to lose 30 pounds.”  Set a smaller goal for each month like “I want to lose five pounds this month.”  Having reasonable goals makes you more likely to achieve them then if you have large looming goals that can feel overwhelming sometimes when the scale hasn’t moved the way you wanted it to.

6.  Have your workouts mapped out on a calendar that you can cross off each day.  Having a visual of your accomplishments will inspire you to keep the momentum going.  If you have a ton of days crossed off showing you did your workout, you will not want to miss a day.

7.  Start a blog!  Inspire others with your journey!  You will be surprised at how people will love to read what you are going through and encourage you to keep going!

8.  Treat yourself to a new outfit!  When you get some results, reward yourself with an outfit that makes you feel good about your progress!  Show off your accomplishment!

9.  Nutrition, nutrition, nutrition.  Make sure you are watching your nutrition and paying close attention to the quality of the food you eat.   Weight loss results hinge upon you making good choices in what you eat.  (See the Daily McDish for great ideas!)

10. Read an inspiring book about healthy lifestyles like Bring It!  by P90X Creator Tony Horton.  Reading a book that will inspire you each day will make a big difference in your motivation to keep going!
